WELCOME
On behalf of the officers of the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology, I welcome you to our website and our 2007-2008 program year. Jess Whitson, 2006-2007 program chairman, has planned an excellent program series, he has lined up a terrific group of respected physicians and engaging speakers. Our bi-monthly dinner meetings will include talks on retina, cataracts, glaucoma and refractive surgery from Karl Csaky, Richard Mackool, Peter Netland, and Dimitri Azar.
Each section of this Welcome Page will provide resources and information to make your membership an enjoyable and productive experience.

MEETINGS
Program dates are on the "Upcoming Meetings" page of this site. The general bimonthly meeting format remains the same, with a Thursday dinner meeting and a Friday conference session.

THURSDAY EVENING DINNER MEETING
Half of our four Thursday evening dinner gatherings will be held at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and the other two will be at local area restaurants. Each dinner features an illustrious speaker on variety of topics.

FRIDAY UT SOUTHWESTERN MEDICAL CENTER CONFERENCE
On Friday mornings, our speakers will participate in the Bimonthly Ophthalmology Conference at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

COMMUNICATIONS
We are making progress towards becoming a paperless organization, a move that will assure efficiency and immediacy. We have successfully obtained almost all members' email addresses, and upcoming announcements and newsletters will be sent by email.

MEMBERSHIP
Thanks to 2006-2007 Secretary and Treasurer Greg Kozielec's planning last year and through the generous support of sponsors, DAO dues for 2007-2008 will remain at $250. This allows us to continue our tradition of open invitations to our dinner meetings for UT Southwestern Medical Center residents and fellows.

THE FUTURE
Our newest officer is David Godfrey; he will plan programs for our 2008-2009 schedule. We are all excited about the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology's upcoming year and look forward to your participation and support.
See you at the meetings!

Larry Taub, M.D.
President, Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology
